Fun, interesting, and educational introduction to Manhattan
If you are seeing NYC on your own (as we were), this tour is perfect for your first or second day in NYC. In 5 hours, we got a good overview of the city, and saw a lot (Columbus Circle, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, Greenwich Village, 911 Memorial, Grand Central Station, the Flatiron district, the cast iron historic district) by hopping out of the van at various points, walking a bit, and hopping back in. Thea left us with suggestions (and a map) of places to visit, and things to do and see for the remainder of our trip. The knowledge of the city’s history and architecture that Thea shared with us definitely added to our enjoyment of the city sights for the remainder of our trip (5 more days). For example, in Greenwich village we heard about the artists, writers, poets, and musicians who made their homes there in the 60’s. When I visited the Museum of the City of New York later in the week, this background information helped me to better understand the folk music exhibit that I saw there. Awesome!
